Trans Village Project

Neon arrow pointing upward, pink and blue colors.

This project began in April 2023 as an effort to help transgender and minority individuals escape persecution from transphobic legislation and systemic oppression. It has since evolved into a collective that connects LGBTQ+ individuals with essential resources such as housing, food, clothing, and more.

Our end goal is to create an eco-village for trans people and their families to live safely.

Our Accomplishments

Eco-Village Plans

We plan to establish our eco-village in the Cascadia region—which includes Washington, Oregon, and California—due to its history of being a safe and inclusive area for LGBTQ+ communities. The region's lush and diverse natural landscape offers an ideal environment for sustainable living that benefits both residents and the surrounding ecosystem.

While we develop permanent housing based on our architectural blueprints, we will welcome individuals with RVs, vehicles, and tents to reside on-site. In addition, we may offer short-term housing in village-provided campers for those needing immediate relocation.

Our building plans are rooted in the principles of permaculture and zero-waste design. We envision community gardens filled with edible, regionally native plants, fostering. Permanent structures will follow the monolithic dome model, constructed using sustainable materials such as mosscrete and hempcrete. Whenever possible, we will incorporate reclaimed materials throughout the building process to reduce waste and environmental impact.

During Construction We Will…

Be allowing people with cars, RV’s, and tents to stay on the property. This allows for us to house people temporarily and help them get on their feet while we construct more permanent homes.

FAQs

  • We plan to power the housing with a mixture of hydropower, solar and natural gas (from compost).

Water will be collected through rain barrels and local streams and used through a channel similar to earth-ships.

Toilets will be compost toilets. Specifically Bio-tiolets from HomeBiogas. This will produce the natural gas used for cooking, while allowing proper waste removal.

  • We do not currently own or have any viable land resources. All donations that are not used for direct aid go straight into our land fund.

If you are aware of anyone who would like to donate their land, or would like to donate land for the project. Please reach out to us at; TransVillageProject@proton.me

  • Our calculations for a village that can house 100 people range from $500k-750k for the land, basic building materials, electric and plumbing. Which is still significantly less than traditional housing.

If we are able to have land and materials donated, we could start our first village for significantly less.

  • We will be opening up applications for housing as soon as we acquire the plot of land. We will respond to each inquiry in order of severity.

All residents will be required to sign a community agreement as a condition of living in the village. This agreement will be written in clear, accessible language and will outline our core expectations for maintaining a safe and respectful environment. Specifically, it will state that individuals may forfeit their housing if they engage in acts of physical violence or repeatedly and intentionally disrupt the peace of the community.

  • We will have options for both long and short term housing.

  • Once we have a plot of land secured, we could immediately start housing people in RV’s, tents and campers while we construct.
